Though the original purpose of this blog was to contrast images of home with images from the wider world, I find I am tiring of home. Right now I can't see its small pleasures. That restless urge to travel, to freshen my eyes with new landscapes, to push myself to meet strangers, the dread of doing so, followed by the exhilaration of a successful meeting, are all experiences I need right now - now that school has started for my family and myself as an instructor.
I did give myself an out - the title, All's Fair - I can do whatever I want, though of course I don't have to give myself permission or ask anyone else's. This circular thinking I inflict on myself was the very reason I named the blog All's Fair. Sometimes I spend more time thinking about the limits of my concept that just doing it. Getting trapped in your own head to avoid action must be a common problem. That's probably why the Nike campaign is so successful. Combine "Just Do It" with Rodney King's plea, "Why can't we all just get along" and that's all the philosophy we need to jump start the world in to a better place.
So for now, I found that my neighbor is an accidental sculptor and that a magic white bug has landed on my back door. Good omens I hope.
