Commerce Run Amuck
The fact that shopping is now a form of entertainment instead of a modern day foraging for sustenance has always intrigued me. I love buying shiny baubles as much as the next person, but at the same time, I often feel overwhelmed by the tidal wave of consumerism. Photography is a form of psychotherapy for me - a way of working through issues. Occasionally I like to photograph in stores, looking for moments that are the exception instead of the rule. We all know that big box stores are ugly and banal, so I don't feel the need to show that again - I want to find the humor or sly meaning in all that oppressive sameness.

One of my images, Gail, 2006, will be part of the POST-Her exhibition at Jackson Fine Art's Project Space in the White Provisions complex at 1170 Howell Mill Road. This is a unique and affordable exhibition - all the images have been printed as 36x24 signed posters available for $50.00 each.
I will be attending the opening on Saturday, October 16th - hope to see you there. Read all the details and see all the images at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=244694&id=40070602051.

Big Teeth
Keeping in the spirit of Halloween, here are two images that touch on the idea of fright and a different kind of food.
