The Cat That Ate Greater Atlanta
This morning at 4 AM I woke to the sickening sounds of my cat, Cricket, eating a factory wrapped copy of Mark Steinmetz's book, Greater Atlanta, which was sitting innocently on the nightstand, bothering neither man nor beast. I love Mark's work, and his books sell out right away, so I bought a copy that I planned to keep pristine in its wrapper. Now Cricket has shattered all those cherished plans with his dagger like teeth. Why couldn't he have chowed down on a Photoshop text book? Or some God awful tome on theory that promised but failed to deliver enlightenment. Maybe he was still hungary after eating a bit of Timothy O'Sullivan and a dab of Hanna Hoch. Cricket is now an outdoor cat. But one with good taste.

4/4/11
I'm constantly oppressed by the small stuff -- the tyranny of the to do list. Checking off errands is oddly satisfying until I realize that all I am doing is maintaining the status quo - keeping the house stocked with toothpaste and paying bills so the electricity doesn't get cut off. A vicious circle of filling the car with gas and letting the dog out. I'm trying to find some sort of beauty in the minutia.
